A nearly 85 mile stretch of paved railtrain running from New Haven, Conneticut to Northhampton, Masachusetts. The currently completed portion of continuous trail ends just outside of Springfield Massachusetts. This path mostly follows the Farmington River, passing through the outskirts of several cities on the way. Along the way, remnants of the former canal’s history are interspersed throughout the wooded areas and parks.

* Near the beginning of the Farmington Canal Rail Trail in New Haven.

* In some locatoins, the path is on the border between the forest and meadows.

* Several bridges allow the path to pass over rivers and other roads.

* The Farmington Canal Rail trail bisects severak densly wooded areas before connecting back to the road.

* More forests trees and sunshine.

* The route gives many views of the water bodies adjacent to the Farmington River.
