CAPE ANN LOOP︎︎︎
. Pedaling through Cape Ann's timeless grace,
. Past beaches kissed by the ocean's embrace,
. Quarries whisper secrets of stone and toil,
. Where echoes of history in sunlight coil.
. Wheels spin on paths where waves softly hum,
. Nature's canvas, where peace and thrill become one,
. In each turn, a story etched in sea-salt air,
. Cycling through beauty, beyond compare.
This cycle loop circumnavigates the Cape Ann Peninsula on small roads beginning in Rockport, and passing through Gloucester halfway. While the overall cycling distance is relatively short, the route passes alongside many beaches and wooded trails. There are many scenic locations to diverge from the cycle route and take a detour to swim or hike.
Venturing inland from the coastal route, one can discover many quarries and historical locations that are hidden in the woods.
To get to the start of the trail, use the $10 MBTA weekender commuter rail pass to travel from Boston North Station to Rockport Station. For the return, the same pass can be used from Rockport (or Gloucester) back to Boston.
