BOXFORD RAIL TRAIL︎︎︎
. Through misty veils, my wheels glide slow,
. From Salem's whispers to Newburyport's glow.
. Beside the marsh, where reeds entwine,
. Nature's lament, a timeless sign.

. Each pedal stroke, a solemn prayer,
. In the stillness, I find solace there.
. On this somber ride, through dusk's embrace,
. The marsh whispers secrets, in silent grace.

The route connects many distinct sections of rail trails from Salem to Newburyport. It traverses the Wenham Rail Trail, the Danvers Rail Trail, the Topsfield Linear Common Trail, the Boxford-Georgetown-Byfield Rail Trails, and the Old Eastern Marsh Trail. The northern end of the route is right across the Massachusetts and New Hampshire state border, while the path to the south passes through numerous outlets at the edge of the Great Marsh.

To get to the start of the trail, use the $10 MBTA weekender commuter rail pass to travel from Boston North Station to Salem Train Station. From there, the trail head can be reached by cycling along surface roads out of the city. On the way back, the same pass can be used for the train from Newburyport Station.
